when you live in a society that tells you otherwise you can complain

When you silence one’s expression to point out the hurtful and degrading comments about one’s appearance regarding weight, you yourself are part of the problem.”Eat a sandwich.” ”Disgusting.””Clearly sick.”You see. It works both ways.Society may have women (and men) obsessed with being slim, but as soon as you are - you are shamed for it.”Real women have curves, only dogs go for bones.”Pinning women against eachother and making out that slim girls are nothing but scraps for men (who are apparently violent animals) to devour, is not healthy for ANYONE.Yes, you must be sick of being told to loose weight, and look all ”thin and pretty” like the celebs. But i promise you - unless it’s a doctor making a comment about your body weight due to health, i will keep on complaining about how invasive, embarrassing, hurtful and plain ignorant skinny shaming comments are.Thank you.

Considering the definition of racism is the belief that one race is superior to another,I think that everyone needs to cool their jets. The fact that an artist is no longer free to experiment with elements of tribal culture to create their own invented mysticism on their own website without being attacked for being ignorant or holding malicious views towards race is so much more offensive than any points that have been brought up by anons. I dig it gal, check out Andrew Huang's 'Solipsist' x x

I'm not the Anon but I think there may be concern because possibly 1) it's a black mask on a white face or 2) depending on where anon is, in America there's a long history of blackface, or 3) it does appear to be some sort of tribe or mystic type mask & unintentionally because the wearer is white, a mockery of a minority culture, be it indigenous or otherwise. I can say that for myself, it did give me a bit of a pause at 1st glance but I also can say you don't seem to have a negative intent

Fair enough points. However, the only reason i drew on it in the first place is because i normally draw on black paper. I saw the mask in a shop, and saw an opportunity to go 3D. My illustrations include some characters that happen to be drawn in black marker. This does not mean i’m representing a particular ethnicity. The thought had not even crossed my mind. If it offends people, i will take down the photo of me wearing it, as the last thing i want to do is appear racist - which if you ask my peers, is definitely the last thing i am.

Anonymous asked:

Did you take a second to think about the fact that your mask might be racist?

If you’d care to explain how, then I’d value your opinion on it. Is it the fact it’s black? Would you feel the same if the mask was white? Is it miss representing ‘tribal culture’? Because I never said it was a tribe mask. I would seriously like to know your thoughts. You don’t need to hide behind Anon.
